While some programs have a cost, most of our Brigades offer free shipping as well as a donation for each piece of garbage that you collect. How TerraCycle Works

TerraCycle's goal is to help eliminate the idea of waste. We do this by creating collection and solution programs for all kinds of typically non-recyclable waste. In essence turning the non-recyclable recyclable. We do this by creating waste collection programs, “brigades,” and turning the collected waste into new products, ranging from recycled park benches to upcycled backpacks. TerraCycle operates all around the world so please check out if we are available in your country.
To start collecting please sign up and join a brigade. There are brigades for many different waste streams ranging from candy wrappers to pens. While some brigades have a cost many are free, where we pay the shipping and for every unit of waste you send to us and at least $0.02 to a charity or school of your choice. If you have already signed up, or are interested in signing up, you can download our free Collection Kit to get started.

What kinds of waste do we want to start with?

This would be a committee decision, but it would also be good to see what Franklin decided to start with and what BRIGADES are open.
How much money can we make?

Terracycle/Recycle Sandburg Update
Thankyou for your continued efforts! All those wrappers, pouches, cups, electronics, etc. really add up to support our playground goal of $20,000. In November we added $1,500 to our previous balance of $9,500, and since then almost $1,000 worth of has been credited. That's $12,000 so far! Keep saving those plastic bags for our next King Soopers' truck pick up on March 1, 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. Terracycle is now accepting discarded electronic—MP3 players, digital cameras, laptops, cell phones. King Soopers truck will be here on Thursday, March 1st for plastic bags.
